Israel may be forced to reoccupy the Sinai.

In 1979, Israel traded the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt in exchange for peace, despite losing two thirds of her territory and massive quantities of natural resources. This move should have proven once and for all that Israel is more interested in peace than anything else, but neo-Nazis are hard to impress.

Regardless, Israel may well be forced to reoccupy the Sinai, as Egypt is on the verge of losing control of the area to terrorists.

Israel is also concerned about reports of the Egyptian police abandoning Sinai in the face of growing Beduin violence and the territory turning into a breeding ground for Global Jihad. The Counter-Terror Bureau noted Saturday that the terror cell planning the attacks against Israelis in Sinai was using local Beduin to help carry out the attacks.

With Egypt in turmoil and the Muslim Brotherhood rapidly rising to power, Israel may be forced to occupy the Sinai once again. Should the Muslim Brotherhood take control of Egypt, it will be impossible to trust them with policing the Sinai, regardless of how strong Egypt is. It will force Israel to invade and conquer the Sinai in order to protect Israeli civilians.

Egypt has an easy way of keeping her territory, but most likely will vote for the Muslim Brotherhood anyway. The parent organization of Hamas and Al Qaeda is the most popular political organization in Egypt, and it is unlikely that they will lose the election.
